Environmental, Safety & Health

The protection of the environment and the safety of our employees is a priority for the development of our CBM operations. CBM operations are environmentally friendly when properly managed. We pride ourselves on insuring to the best of our ability that we are in compliance with each environmental law and regulation and safety standard. GeoMet has employees whose sole responsibility is to ensure compliance with all Federal and State environmental rules and regulations. Our Management provides guidance and training to our field employees to emphasize awareness of our environmental and safety responsibilities. Our monitoring systems are designed to enable us to surpass established air and water quality standards. We routinely meet and update environmental groups to inform them of our operations and our commitment to protect the environment.

The principles of our policy guide our efforts to be committed to personnel safety and health and the protection of the environment. The following is our Safety, Health and Environmental Policy:

GeoMet, Inc. is committed to personnel safety and health and the protection of the environment. We will ensure that operations of our coalbed methane operations will be conducted in a manner that protects our employees’ safety and health, the environment and Company property. We will aim for continuous development and improvement in these areas.

In order to carry out our commitment, GeoMet ensures that all projects will apply the following practices:

Safety, health and environmental protection are a shared responsibility that extends from all of our employees and contractors to all levels of Management.

GeoMet’s approach to safety, health and environmental issues is proactive – both in financing and managing regulations.

Provide proper equipment for the safety of our employees.

Inform, train and review our safety, health and environmental policies with our employees so they can perform their individual responsibilities and duties in a manner that conforms to our safety, health and environmental commitment.

We will carry out a regular schedule of environmental and safety audits with the commitment to address any and all findings.

Ensure that safety, health and environmental awareness are incorporated into the design phase of our operations.

Establish adequate levels of safety, health and environmental communications with our communities, as well as with concerned groups and regulatory agencies.

Any employee who knowingly violates applicable safety, health and environmental policies, laws and/or regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge.
